Library Aid Project – Mayurawathi Maha Vidyalaya, Metiyagane – 2026.09.30
A donation of books was made to Mayurawathi Maha Vidyalaya, Matiyagane, on September 30, 2026, under the Arts Council of Sri Lanka’s library aid project.
This donation took place in conjunction with the school’s literary festival held on the same day.
Mrs. Prageethika Jayasekara, Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Educational Publications (and a poet), and Mr. Inesh Katipe Arachchi, Secretary of the Arts Council of Sri Lanka, delivered lectures on the value of reading and literary creation.
A large number of books were donated through the patronage of Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, and poet Isuru Chamara Somaweera; publications of the Arts Council of Sri Lanka were also presented to the library. Additionally, a steel book cabinet was donated during the event.
At the aforementioned literary festival, students who excelled in the school’s literary activities were recognized; additionally, Methuli Sithanga, a Grade 5 student, presented her debut children’s book to poetess Prageethika Jayasekara and Mr. Inesh Katipe Arachchi, Secretary of the Arts Council of Sri Lanka.
The school principal, deputy principal, teachers, and students attended this event, which was enriched by various literary and artistic performances.
