Creative Writing and Correct Language Use - Kurunegala - 2025.06.18

The Kurunegala District Workshop on the "Creative Writing and Correct Language Use" series conducted by the Arts Council of Sri Lanka with the aim of motivating the amateur creative to write correctly in both creative and general writing was successfully held on 18.06.2025.
The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Sunil Derangala, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sinhala and Mass Communication, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, a member of the State Literary Council, explaining how to use accurate language in creative writing using examples such as columns, poems, songs, etc. Veteran writer Keerthi Welisarage gave the necessary guidance in writing an artistic fiction through the literary elements of the novel, short story, character portrayal, and narrative, in his lecture. Other resource persons, Podiratne Angamale and Charitha Wickramasinghe, explained to the readers present about the incorrect use of language usage and the aforementioned rules by novices today.
The workshop was organized by the Kurunegala District Cultural Division and Kurunegala Additional District Secretary H.S.N. De Zoysa and District Cultural Officer P.M.S. Bandara, along with a group of cultural officers and 40 new creators, were also present on this occasion.
Entertainment Program - "Sathsevana Center", Meerigama - 2025.05.21

This program is conducted under the recurring provisions of the Arts Council of Sri Lanka .The first lecture was delivered by Dr. Sunil Wijesiriwardena, Executive Member of the Arts Council, on how to integrate entertainment and art into life.
The second program was on how the mother language has grown into the Sinhala language through songs, with the resourceful contribution of Senior Lecturer Shantha Peiris of the University of Fine Arts and the contribution of musicians including Amanda Narankotuwa.
Satsewana Superintendent Priya Ranjan Ranawaka had well organized the program.
On behalf of the Arts Council of Sri Lanka, its Secretary K.H. Dayantha and Janaka Prasanna participated in this event.
Creative Writing and Correct Language Use - District Secretariat, Puttalama - 2025.03.20

The third program of "Creative Writing and Correct Language Use" a one-day workshop was held on 20.03.2025 at the Puttalam District Secretariat Auditorium with the aim of enhancing the creative skills of wtiters in the Puttalam District and improving their language use.
40 aspiring writers representing 16 Divisional Secretariat Divisions participated. The highlight of this was the presence of amateur artists who had won district literary competitions. The lecture on "language use" was delivered by writer and lecturer Nalin Kariyawasam, while the lecture on creative writing was delivered by literary award-winning writer and Chairman of the Arts Council of Sri Lanka Keerthi Welisarage and Sujani Ratnayake and Madhushani Weerasinghe of the District Secretariat office. A cash prize of Rs. 10,000 each was also awarded to 20 people under the writer's grant. Mr. K.H. Dayantha, Secretary of the Arts Council, also participated in this event.

A one-day workshop titled "Creative Writing and Correct Language Use" was held on 17.03.2025 at the Kaluthara District Secretariat Auditorium with the aim of enhancing the creative skills of school children in theKaluthara District and improving their language use.
The workshop was conducted by Mr. Jayathilake Kammalaweera, Mr. Keerthi Welisarage the chairman of the Arts Council of Sri Lanka, Mr. Naleen N. Kariyawasam and Mr. Ravindra Dematadeniya. Also K.H. Dayantha, Secretary of the Arts Council of Sri Lanka participated in the event and this program was organized with the patronage of the Arts Council of Sri Lanka.

A one-day workshop titled "Creative Writing and Correct Language Use" was held on 20.02.2025 at the Kegalle District Secretariat Auditorium with the aim of enhancing the creative skills of writers and school children in the Kegalle District and improving their language use.
The workshop was conducted by State Literary Panel member and award-winning writer Nandana Weerasinghe and the Chairman of the State Literary Panel, award-winning writer Kamal Perera. Representing the Arts Council of Sri Lanka, Secretary K.H. Dayantha participated in the event and this program was organized with the patronage of the Arts Council of Sri Lanka.

Folk Music Entertainment Program - Hemamali College, Galahitiyawa - 2024.11.21

A entertainment program on folk music was organized by the Arts Council of Sri Lanka on 21.11.2024 at Hemamali Maha Vidyalaya, Galagahitiyawa. For this, popular actor Ishara Wickramasinghe and Mrs. Anuradha Premathilaka provided resources and about 500 students of grades 10 and 11 participated in this.
Mrs. Anuradha Premathilaka, Development Officer of the Arts Council of Sri Lanka, also coordinated the event.
