(English) Chartered architect and industry professional Varuna de Silva is known for his minimalist yet beautiful designs and projects. He is an Associate Member (AIA) of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects and a member of The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). Varuna studied at Royal College and completed his Bachelors and Masters degrees at the University of Moratuwa and started lecturing at the same university as a visiting lecturer. Presently he is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Architecture. Varuna was the first ever participant from Sri Lanka for the prestigious Glenn Murcutt International Master Class in Sydney; a residential studio program and a major annual event of the architecture world, and was awarded a 50% scholarship.
